Our Home

Dining "Garage Door" w/Kitchen in background
Living Room to the left of the Dinng.

Just a couple of better interior shots of the "garage doors" I need to come up with a better name for these two windows/doors. Suggestions are welcome :-) Yesterday was cool but sunny and they just flooded the space with light. I can't wait for the summer to roll them up, wide open to the deck! It has been over a year since we started this project and we are now on the important last leg of finishing the spaces. Very exciting and we are both looking forward to move back in to our newly remodeled home!

Happy Holidays to all

Living & Dining Garage Doors!!!!

Left is the Living, Right is the Dining. Both open out to the deck.
From the back yard

A better picture of the Garage Doors. The wall is just primer and the finish color will be the left one, a light brown that contrasts the beams nicely.

More Tile & a Garage!

Master Bath/Shower getting 16x16 slate tile installed. The tub and the shower floor will get the same slate also.
Second bathroom with the same slate tile but 8x16. The floor is the same stuff too.

The frosted glass garage doors are finally on! They really dress up the front. I can't wait to get it all painted up. Sorry for the dark photo it is getting dark around 4:30pm right now and they had just finished. Of note are the wall mounted super quiet garage door openers. Very nice.
Tomorrow they will install the two clear glass garage doors in the Living and Dining areas............you read that right! And yes, I will be able to open the Living room "garage door" with a remote from the couch!!! Check it out tomorrow! :-)

Early Kitchen Picture!

Here is a quick picture of the Kitchen cabinet getting installed. Turning out real nice!

Lots going on lately:
1. Of course cabinets are going in and we had to put down a smooth floor for the ktichen tile
2. Sheetrocking is getting completed in the garage
3. Tore out misc sheetrock around the tubs and showers so the slate tile backer board could go in today. The tile arrives tomorrow!
4. We had to adjust some outlets in the ktichen and adjust the gas line location
5. The main water line to the house sprung a leak in the Mechanical room! Luckily I caught it before much damage. Got it fixed quickly and just have some drywall to patch.

Busy busy the last few days!

Cabinets that are like fine furniture!

We are extremely please with our new cabinets that got delivered yesterday! WOW! They look so nice, like fine wood furniture :-) The wood is called Jatoba, otherwise known as African Cherry. It just punches with color and grain. This is the end kitchen unit for the Oven and Microwave
This is the island main center piece, minus the toe kick base. The oven goes on the center of this, with another unit on each side to make an eight foot long island
This is the main counter section that goes against the wall. All full pull soft close drawers. Just look at the wood grain and color!

These Guys are Good!

The garage slab is now poured, finished and is just curing. If anyone needs good concrete flatwork let me know. ABC Concrete has done a great job on all our flatwork. They really know what they are doing, plus they crack me up with all their complaining and harassing of each other:-) I can't wait to put the garage to use. With the heated floors and fully insulated walls and ceiling it will be a pleasure to work on all the projects in

I might as well Advertise!

It has been pretty busy at the house lately. The sheetrockers are busy mudding and tapng and should wrap things up in a week. Looks real nice, I will have to take some more interior pictures. We have also finalized colors and the painter will start on the outside on Friday. I am real happy with the choices. Hopefully it turns out as good as I imagine it :-) We have had some problems with the In Floor heating company. They are going out of business it appears. Never a good thing but it leaves us with an unfinished heating system plus we will probably lose some money in the process ;-( Unfortunatley I think this is something to watch out for even more so over the winter. It's a slow time for construction and many businesses are struggling already.
I have been working on putting together the next project for myself. Finalizing and updating my business name, logo and website. Stay tuned for all that. Here is a quick glimpse of the flyer that I put in front of our project. I seem to be getting plenty of interest so hopefully this could lead to additional work. Design, Project Management, Consulting.........Keep me in mind!!!

Sheetrocking is a Messy Business

Lots of dust, debris and just plain mess! But the sheetrock sure does make the spaces feel different........more like rooms! :-) Master Bedroom with a pile of scraps where the bed will go.
"The Boss" was onsite doing a project review. We checked out OK :-) Tif is standing in the Dining Room with the Living Room behind and the Office way in the background.

Kitchen Area

Mudding and Taping will start tomorrow. By next week we should be all cleaned up and looking good! :-)

Cool Technology! Plus Getting ready for Sheetrock

Here is a picture of the boiler and all the associated valves, tubing, pumps etc for the In-Floor Heating. Quite impressive!
The platform for the tub is in the background with a half wall in front, which will have glass above it. A glass door will be at the left opening. Plus the full height wall at the far right is where the Bathroom cabinets will start.

The two bedroom doors at the "existing" end of the house. It has been many, many months since you could see either bedroom since we were using both of them as storage rooms

The guys finished off the soffit at the Lower Patio. Looks great.
